Event Details

The Saturday Morning Programming Club is open to anyone who wants to take their first steps into coding.

Late nights poring over a keyboard are a time-honoured rite of passage for software developers, but these days it is a very social activity, and the spirit of cooperation and teamwork in novice programming is ripe for embedding.

What to Expect

The Club is open to anyone with a genuine interest in starting programming. There won't be any formal classes, but people are welcome to bring their own projects, or download a free copy of Invent With Python to start working through. There'll be geeky types on hand to help explain, work through problems and generally offer support.

If specific common issues come up, we'll do some breakout groups. The idea is to get the kids supporting each other and working together (whilst the geeks drink coffee and maybe eat breakfast baps).

What Kit Do I Need

We have some laptops from a UK Online Centres pool of kit, so even if you don't have your own, we should be able to get you started.  Of course, if you have got your own, do bring it so you can carry on after the sessions.

Under 18?

Please bring a responsible adult who will stay with you for the session.  The Programming Club isn't suitable for kids under 8 (that's 1000 in binary).
